08 candidates

December 17, 2007

Please list the top 3 reasons & or issues that help you decide on a candidate. For the love of my sanity, can we have a thread without naming candidates? That means you – RP supporters. This is not an easy exercise. Here are mine:

1. The candidate who puts the needs of the men and women and uniform and their families as a true priority for as long as they live

(benefits, medical care, warfare necessities, pay raises, PTSD care) and will not deny them anything they need for serving the US proud.

2. a candidate that exudes confidence without cockiness and can command and demand authority without having to exert effort.

3. the person who will keep my children the safest in their own country, now and in the future

1. Will protect our national security and sovereignty, which includes securing the borders. 2. Will restore fiscal sanity by resisting new entitlements, and ideally will reform old entitlements. 3. If he can do one and two, I don't care if he spends the rest of his time in office playing Halo 3 with the Joint Chiefs.

1. The candidate must remember that the framers of the Constitution intended that the Federal Government, under the framework of federalism, should do only certain things, and that there are things that it does today that it was never intended to do. 2. The candidate must have a well-focused concern for what is best for the continued freedom, welfare, and security of this nation as a whole, rather than attending only to the loud and distracting voices of the well-heeled and vocal special interests. 3. The candidate must be of strong character, including integrity and morality, sufficient ego and leadership qualities to withstand the tests of the campaign and the office, and a sense of perseverance strong enough to see his policies through while still being able to see the other side of the coin.

My three: (1) The candidate who keeps my taxes down and/or can simplify them; (2) The candidate who will appoint common sense people to district, appellate, and Supreme Court ("common sense" defined as viewing the judicial brach as accountable to the American people); (3) Proven management experience. Being Governor or CEO (or even a senior VP) counts more in my book than Senator or Representative.

1. A candidate that has a strong foundation of faith, believes in the sanctity of marriage, life, and the defense of morality which will all strongly effect their decision making once elected. 2. A candidate that believes in and supports a strong education system and personal development and is willing to revamp our current system to meet the growing needs of our times - who understands that crime goes down when education goes up. 3. A candidate that handles pressure well, can be a strong manager in times of crisis and that will surround their self with a strong team as you are only as strong as those you surround yourself with - ultimately this is a strong tell for a good candidate.
