an article by Leonard Brown
Last night, our brethren in Wisconsin made one heck of a showing. In a state that traditionally turns blue on the Presidential map, conservatives statewide sounded their barbaric yawp over the rooftops of the world. (Apologies to Walt Whitman, but that’s just a great line).
The attention of the nation was on the Recall of Governor Scott Walker, and he was resoundingly victorious. Amidst the scathing commentary of the media, and the slings and arrows of the left, he stood his ground and faced them all with his principles in tact. The result? The people of Wisconsin made him the first Governor in the history of the United States of America to survive a recall election. He earned it.
What has his opposition said about this event? Tripp Wellde, the state director of OFA-Wisconsin said this:
“While tonight’s outcome was not what we had hoped for – no one can dispute the strong message sent to Governor Walker. Hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites from all walks of life took a stand against the politics of division and against the flood of secret and corporate money spent on behalf of Scott Walker.”
Pardon me, sir, but were you watching the same election that I was? The people of Wisconsin took a stand against Scott Walker?
No one took a stand against Scott Walker. What happened was this, the people of Wisconsin decided that they would no longer put up with your nonsense. They duly elected a conservative government…twice…and they like the direction that their state is moving. I spent a good bit of time last night speaking to a friend of mine who lives near Milwaukee, and he believes that this is a watershed moment in the history of the state. Wisconsin is moving forward, and you need to hang on.
Tripp Wellde was also quoted as saying the following:
“No one can dispute the strong message that we have sent to Governor Walker.”
Let me describe for you the message that was sent last night. Wisconsin boldly told the world that Governor Walker was THEIR Governor. That they fully support him, Lt. Governor Kleefisch and the Wisconsin GOP. They have stood tall and rejected the liberal left and the politics of division, defined as recalling a duly elected man guilty of no crimes. They have had enough of your lies and abuses Wisconsin Democrats, and they are casting aside their blue state ways in favor of change we can all believe in. Fiscal responsibility, personal responsibility, smaller government and greater freedom.
I think we will see the state of Wisconsin turn red this November. I believe that the election map will run red with states that haven’t voted Republican since Reagan. I believe that the true grass roots of this nation are about to rise up, and that the country is taking notice of the misdeeds of the left. I believe it’s about time. “On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin! Plunge right through that line!”
