Ann Coulter. Why is it that we on the right believe in being tough on terrorism but weak against our enemies? Will the conservative backlash make anybody like us any better? Will liberals see how we ripped apart Ann Coulter then decide that conservatives just want to get along with them?
I disagree with the mentality that we ought to throw Ann Coulter to the sacrificial alter like prehistoric tribes trying to appease their God. It’s almost like the conservatives are the indigenous people on Skull Island waiting for King Kong to take the girl and eat her. Annie, does it really matter if your last name is Coulter or Darrow?.
We throw our fellow conservatives under the bus when they say something wrong, even if it could merely be perceived as being wrong. We threw Newt Gingrich under the bus, and Tom Delay under the bus. It hasn’t appeased the Left, as their thirst for conservative blood never gets quenched. They are more than willing to keep throwing conservatives in jail on trumped up charges until we begin to start standing up for each other. It’s a tactic employed by tyrants throughout history. It grows and grows until it becomes a way of life for the people. Scooter Libby was the latest victim of the Left’s political tyranny, but I assure you that he won’t be the last.
Is there not a more shining example of how we betray our own than in Pat Robertson? When he stood up and said “You know, I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war … and I don’t think any oil shipments will stop.”, he knew what he was talking about. To my surprise, many conservative bloggers wanted Pat Robertson to apologize for his comments because Hugo Chavez was a “democratically elected President”. These were some major names in the blogosphere, informed people, yet, even they were completely ignorant of the threat rising in Venezuela.
We believe that Leftist are for terrorist, and who can blame the Right for thinking like that? Every step of the way, the Left has done everything in their power to make sure that the war on terrorism fails, and fails while Bush is in the Whitehouse. They accused Bush of infringing on their freedoms with the Patriot Act, and though I’m not for the Patriot Act, one can’t help but to wonder why they don’t bring it up now? Certainly since they have regained the House and Senate, they have the power to put bills on the table that would repeal it. In the very least, here’s their opportunity to make a statement.
They were never against the Patriot Act, they’re all for it now, especially since they can use it to their benefit. For the record, my opposition to the Patriot Act is mostly because it’s a wartime measure and is not needed during peacetime. It did not need to be permanant. Could one really believe that they would get us out of Iraq if they win back the Whitehouse?
The concept that we on the Right fail to grasp is that the Left is against terrorist. For them they are at war, but that war has a different priority than the rest of us. Their public enemy #1 is President Bush and the conservatives that he represents are #2. Islamo-fascist are somewhere down the list, they just are not the top priority for the Left. The enemy of their enemy is their friend, hence the confusion that Liberals are actually siding with terrorism. They are at war with the Right and until we on the Right figure that out, will continue to sacrifice our fellow conservatives.
