First we must ask what is a Patriot? Patriot has many definitions and just two come to mind that apply to our present situation. First definition is; a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests. The second definition is; a person who regards himself or herself as a defender, especially of individual rights, against presumed interference by the federal government. Given these two definitions, most people would declare themselves as a patriot. But under the Obama Administration, just having these ideas could have a person labeled as a “possible” terrorist. How could a patriot as defined above become affiliated with a terrorist? It is very simple if you use the Democratic rule of making those who oppose you seem to be criminals that way you control the message.
If we fight for freedom and the right to pray, carry a gun, hunt, and be open about criticizing the government, we could be labeled as being a terrorist rather then being a patriot! Now how is this even remotely possible to be labeled as a terrorist while we only wish to protect our rights? It is possible because those of us whom call ourselves “PATRIOTS” are not standing tall and demanding that those who vilify us as “PATRIOTS” to stop their dumb way of trying to gain the high ground. Why has our nation, especially the federal government decided that being a “PATRIOT” could also be considered as being a possible terrorist? This needs to be answered and it cannot be answered if we as a people are asked to watch our neighbors and tell the government if WE feel they may be up to something or if they say something that others may consider as being against the government. This is not the way our nation was built.
Our nation of “Patriots” was built upon the trust and help of our neighbors, not watching them for the government! When our nation was first formed and went to battle against England, most of those that were fighting to rid our shores of nearly the very same things we wish today were neighbors from down the street or across the farm or around the next hill. Our forefathers went to fight the British with pitch forks and weapons that could not compete with the English armory, but just our words alone scared the British because we had the urge to be free and not under the control of the British Government. We were “PATRIOTS” because we stood up for what we knew was right.
Today if we take the same stand of our forefathers, we become labeled as possible terrorists. What has happened in the last 150 years or so? Maybe we forgot what our forefathers knew. Maybe we forgot what it really means to be a “PATRIOT”. It is not right that today if we take a stand for less government and more freedom, we become terrorists. Our nation did not lose all those lives just to lose the very freedom that we had won from the British. Today we can all be “PATRIOTS” just by doing what we are supposed to do, be free! If we find that our government is too big it has to be made smaller. As patriots, we must restore the same ideas of those we called Patriots, we must stand ready to defend our freedoms and rights and we must also NOT allow the government to interfere with any of our rights or freedoms.
We as Patriots do indeed support our country and its interests, but our country cannot expect us to do their bidding for them and that is NOT the way our government is supposed to operate. We as Patriots have to stand up to our government in all forms and let them know they work for us and we do NOT work for them. We as patriots must not allow the government to interfere with our freedoms or our rights as they are given to us under the Constitution. As Patriots, we must ask the question, “What are the penalties for violating the Constitution?” This is one question that must be answered because as of now few if any can state without reserve what the penalty is for violating the Constitution. As Patriots we must bring this even further and demand that a penalty MUST be imposed upon those whom take an oath of office to uphold the Constitution then go against their oath of office!
But we as a nation have a problem with being Patriots, we sometimes have the courage to fight those whom go against the Constitution, but now it is like we as a nation are lost and forgot that we are Patriots that should do more then just vote. The question beacons like a lighthouse upon the highest mountain, “Are we PATRIOTS” in the true sense of the word, are or we just making the motions to get by one more day in our own private lives? We as a people are today much more worried about what affects our lives each day in our own little world we have developed. It is like we know what it means to be a Patriot, but we just don’t have the time or reason to really be one. Most of us do not pay enough attention to what goes on in Washington, D.C. mainly because most say they don’t have time to worry about that. Well, when the government comes knocking at your door demanding that you turn in you gun or go to jail, it will be too late to gain interest in what goes on in Washington, D.C.! Don’t think this cannot happen, it did in England and a few other nations!
Now we have to ask ourselves over and over again, are we “PATRIOTS” or are we just a bunch of people being directed by a government that has now taken control over most if not all we do or think? I would much rather die as a “PATRIOT” then as a person following Government orders! So ask your self, are we “PATRIOTS”?
