Liberals Letting Facts Get Away From Them

July 15, 2007

But then again, that’s nothing new.

I’ve been reading this rumor about David Vitter’s supposed “Diaper Fetish”, which has now become accepted biblical fact by the left. Of course, you are all already familiar of my opinion that the Left in this country operate more like a religious cult than a political party.

Too often Liberals hear another Liberal make a statement, and since a came from a Liberal source and not a news source, it must be true. That seems to be the case with this supposed fetish as I did an internet search and could not find an actual news story. Instead what I found was one liberal blog backing their claim of such fetish to another liberal blog, which back it’s claim from another liberal blog, which back it’s claim to another liberal blog.

The closest I came to finding the original source was RightHandThief. Come on Oyster, say it ain’t so, tell us you ain’t just making that up. This after all the lecturing you’ve done about honesty and The Dead Pelican? You better be right Oyster, I won’t forget you as the source.

Just a post note, I’ve heard my share of Vitter rumors, but I didn’t post them without absolutely knowing them true, not one of those rumors included anything about a diaper fetish.

Vitter said in 1998: “President Clinton should be impeached and removed from office because he is morally unfit to govern.” NOW, he wants a very different standard when it comes to his own misdeeds. What he did was also illegal; Clinton’s relationship, as much as we don’t like it, was consensual and no money was exchanged. Sen. Vitter’s double-standard for Republicans has badly damaged this country. It’s not just the blatant hypocrisy–and yes, Republicans are hypocrites when it comes to family values–it is the double-standard. Republicans feel they are above the law. That alone makes them unfit to govern. Republicans want a double-standard when it comes to their own crimes and misdeeds. Republican abuse of power AND mis-application of the law against Democrats. Clinton’s lie about personal matters and/or his consensual sex NEVER rose to the Constitutional definition of a “high crime or misdemeanor.” Yet WHERE are your DEMANDS that Sen. Vitter resign for ACTUAL crimes of soliciting a prostitute? Surely his open hypocrisy in flaying Pres. Clinton and declaring Clinton “morally unfit to govern” is grounds for Repubs to demand Vitter resign!! IN fact, it is DOUBLE the reason: both the lying, the inconsistency in application of law–those are easily sufficient MORAL grounds to demand Vitter’s resignation. But Vitter’s crimes also put him outside the law. Further, Vitter’s unfitness to sit in the Senate has grossly damaged this country. Vitter violates the law. Vitter applies the law using double-standards, in an OPENLY PARTISAN fashion, and that contradicts both American core legal principles AND violates basic American character traits of fair play, equality under the law, and respect for the Citizenry. Finally, Sen. Vitter’s crimes and infidelities have COMPROMISED HIS ABILITY TO SERVE AS SENATOR. His refusal to impeach Pres. Bush for lying to the American people and entangling us in a foreign occupation of Iraq (under false pretenses) does a profound disserve to this country. It’s a double-standard relative to Clinton’s impeachment. ____________________________ The war in Iraq has also FORCED many Iraqi girls INTO prostitution. But heeeyyyy–PROSTITUTES in Washington DC, PROSTITUTES in Louisiana, PROSTITUTES in Iraq. From Sen. Vitter’s perspective, this must be a great and wonderful thing!!! But as long as YOU can fail to DEMAND Sen. Vitter’s resignation, you have no claim to “family values” as a campaign tactic, nor ANY moral high ground over liberals or Democratic candidates. As long as Sen. Vitter remains in office, he has no opportunity to play the moralist or “family values” card. Hypocrits can’t self-appoint themselves moral scolds for the rest of the nation. And “values” is dead as an issue for Republicans; it’s useless. From here on out, just do us all a favor and TRY to live up to the “personal responsibility” you exploit for political reasons. If David Vitter had ANY personal responsibility, he’d have resigned immediately. Just make an EFFORT to live up to the “moral values” you bludgeoned into the political arena at the expense of effective public policy. Just TRY to live up to the “fiscal responsibility” Republicans worship–but failed utterly to practice when Bush got in. How very conservative. Republicans are worse than “tax and spend” Democratic Congress-folk. Repubs are tax AND spend AND put us DEPLY IN DEBT–and deeply damage our national security and economic health and domestic infrastructure to boot. Republicans are morally. unfit. to. govern.

I didnt say what people CAN do. People CAN do whatever they want. People should not make assumptions about things unless those things are admitted to OR unless there is proof that the claim is correct. So far I have not seen proof that he liked diapers. Does that mean he didnt like diapers? no. It just means that there is no proof. There are so many other things we can get vitter for, there is no need to weaken the argument against him by putting in things that are rumor.

We should not be discussing it unless he actually admitted to that. People can discuss only what public figures admit to? They'd love that!

Spitball: There is no proof, just allegations, of this diaper thing. We should not be discussing it unless he actually admitted to that. He HAS admitted to sins and those sins are what we should be discussing (since he opened the door for it when he said clinton should resign for his affair)

The nature of Vitter's (apparent) fetish is just as relevant to the conversation as is his hypocrisy because it clearly details precisely what kind of "values" this man supports in his own life. Its a character issue.

James Carville referred to it on CNN: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0707/11/sitroom.01.html About 2/3 of the way down. CARVILLE: Look, to me, I forgive -- I mean, I completely forgive him, but he's -- it's the people of Louisiana he's got to go to. And people in Louisiana are going to say, that's great. I'm just saying, but -- but we don't need to be embarrassed anymore. We don't need to have $90,000 in the freezer. We don't need somebody like getting a prostitute to wear -- getting him to wear a diaper or whatever the story is. And they feel like that their state -- or our state, I should say, my state -- that we have been tarnished by a lot of this. And people want to move on from that. But he did -- but he -- it's not -- the voters. He's got to ask the forgiveness of the voters at some point. It's not just his wife, or God (INAUDIBLE) forgives everybody.

Regardless of the fetish, that should not be the focus of this discussion. Vitter placed himself high on the morallity pedestal and now has come crashing down. He claimed that Clinton should resign for having an affair and now so should he. Period.

I am the original internet source for the "diaper fetish" report. My source knows patrons of the Canal Street brothel who claim Vitter was into many different "fetishes", including one involving diapers. I believe this has become a distracting side issue, when compared to Vitter's hypocrisy, his recklessness, his lying, his pattern of illegal conduct, and his attempts to discredit and professionally punish those who knew the truth about his "serious sins". My source has a 100% track record of giving me reliable information, and my faith in my source is what led me to pass this information along. Usually I at least double source allegations like that. For example, my information about Vitter and Wendy Cortez is triple sourced. I might add that other Nola bloggers commented on Vitter's rumored fetishes prior to my report, although with less specificity. I wasn't in the room watching Vitter with my own eyes, so I'm relying on the judgment and veracity of a source I trust. Simply put, I believe Vitter had a diaper fetish. I don't have a moral judgment to make about that, only perhaps an aesthetic one. Please note, thought, that the Canal Street Madam has described Vitter as not being into anything "unusual", which contradicts what I said in my post. However, the Canal Street Madam's credibility, in my view, is spotty at best. Those who follow this issue know that my posts and reporting (which echo Chris Tidmore's original reporting) about Vitter have been substantially confirmed, especially in regards to his serial infidelity involving former prostitute Wendy Cortez. Larry Flynt, who prompted Vitter to admit his "serious sin", says he has 4 more prositutes linked to Vitter. If the other prostitutes and madams Vitter did business with also deny that he had "unusual" preferences, then I'll retract my report, apologize to the Senator, and my reputation will suffer accordingly (despite being correct about nearly everything else regarding L'affair Vitter). Now, this promised course of action would be in direct contrast to Chad Rogers at the Dead Pelican, who NEVER EVER retracted or apologized for the false statements he made about Mitch Landrieu and the DNC during the New Orleans' mayoral campaign last year.

Jeremy H. Bol , you just may be right, and I hope it is not true that he does wear them. With us being 1st: in births to unmarried mothers,1st: in homicide rate per 100,000 habitants,11th: in toxic releases in millions of pounds,49th: in private investment in research and development. And now you add David Vitter to the image of Louisiana it is sad. No matter if it is true or not the image of David Vitter in Diapers,is going to hurt Louisiana chances of getting any help from the rest of the country. No one is going to do business and risk being caught into the problems Vitter caused for himself.

If I had to wager a guess I'd say that somebody got the Astranaut cross-country cheating husband story mixed up with the politican cheating story. And for the record the case states she had the diapers in the car but was not wearing any. I'm sure anybody with a baby has had diapers in the car with them at some time in their life.

That is why I enjoy your articles so much.I may not always agree with you, but you try to stay with what is really going on ,instead of jumping for every rumor going around. You will have to admit that, this whole affair with David Vitter using a Hooker, has caused a hugh stink for the republican party at it`s worst time for Louisiana. The last thing our state needed was another Leader pushing us under the bottom of the barrel, that all of our Leaders have put us under. This will cause even more reason for congress and big business to stay for away from Louisiana.
