There seems to be a major disconnection between the Union Parish School Board and the citizens of Union Parish. Just as bad, there is a similar disconnection between the Union Parish School Board and their school administrators.
Along with strong-arming employees of the Union Parish School District, and without any sign of concern, the Union Parish School Board is attempting to disregard the safety of Union Parish students in order to construct an ill-planned palace. How better to describe paying over three-times the price paid for similar schools without any appropriations for the minimum need of sixteen new buses with drivers, or any plan to LEGALLY bus the students the long distances across the second largest parish in the state.
With total disregard to the fine art of experience, the Union Parish School Board voted to institute a plan that is seen to be move backwards by the most experienced school administrator in the entire parish, Curtis Williams, Principal, Downsville High School.
Endorsing the sentiments of Principal Williams is Johnny Mance, Principal, Farmerville High School. Principal Mance would be a likely candidate to be the Principal at the proposed school, however, there is some question as to his desire for the job. A principal of principle.
There is no common sense in any decision that would disturb a system that has proven to be the best model in the parish.
Although we are not offering everything that I would like to, we are doing the things that we need to do. Our previous scores were the best in the parish. We feel we are going to improve more this year. Principal Curtis Williams.
