Today is the day that everybody stops and gives their thanks. Like many Holidays, it’s a celebration to do the very thing that we ought to be doing everyday. Christmas we have good will to each other, Fourth of July is the celebration of our country, Easter the celebration of Christ dying for our sins, Veterans Day and Memorial day we stop to think about those serving in our military. Each Holiday is there for a reason, because we forget to do those things that we ought to do on a daily basis.
I want to stop and give thanks to many things in my life. I’m thankful to be living in the United States, a country that despite its willingness to forget its history, still honors the foundation of this country.
I am thankful to be living in Louisiana, a state with great food and great people. If we could just get rid of the politicians, it would be the perfect place to live.
I’m thankful for my wife, family, and my friends, who tolerate this curmudgeon’s stubbornness, aggressiveness, and determination.
I’m thankful for all of our soldiers, from those who risked their lives defending our country in times of war, to those who served during times of peace, which kept it so. Because of them, we here have a lot to be thankful for.
I am thankful for all the gun owners, because of them we can all sleep better at night and crooks have to think twice before breaking into someone else’s home. Because of them, those that don’t own guns are safe.
I’m thankful to be blessed with some of the state’s best writers, who often times have picked up the slack of writing when I wasn’t able too.
I’m thankful to the readers, to which without them, our work becomes fruitless.
I’m thankful to the politicians who without them, we’d often be short on something to write about.
But most importantly, and this is something we all should remember, I’m grateful to God for giving me life and the ability to have the good fortune that I have had.
Happy Thanksgiving to everybody, may God bless each and everyone of you.
