Where’s Kip… AGAIN???

September 24, 2008

Well he did it again, or should I say he didn’t show up again. He missed another mayorial debate, this time skipping out on a forum held at LSU. Kip apparently canceled last week due to a hurricane meeting, at least that’s my understanding.

I hope this is the case, but missing debate forums doesn’t bode well for a mayor who is often seen out late at nights in bars doing ill-defined “mayorial events” at taxpayers expense or out soiling beds with his mayorial love sweat and getting beat up by the ladies husband… again at taxpayers expense.

I had the opportunity to question the other three candidates following the debate at LSU and in fairness to Kip Holden, I postponed an earlier opportunity to interview all four candidates because Mayor Holden failed to show at a previous forum for the candidates.

Now Mayor Holden is claiming that the other three candidates are not interested in talking about the issues, but it seems to me that if that were the case, why are they in these forums talking about issues while Mayor Holden leaves the audience wondering what kind of mayorial events he’s doing… er rather, attending to. Is it arrogance on the mayor’s part, thinking that he doesn’t even need to be held accountable to the people because he’s so well loved… um, popular? Can we trust this mayor after he publicly called for an investigation of a mailer then turned around and privately asked city council to not investigate.

Mind you this is the same mayor who claimed the mailer was a huge lie perpertrated by Byron Sharper and Co., and that he was going to press charges, only to later announce that he wasn’t going to press charges. Could it be that mayor Holden doesn’t want this to go to court because he doesn’t want the truth to come out?

Before or after the election, the truth will eventually come out to all of Baton Rouge. However, it’s better before the election to get him out civily than to drag him out in handcuffs. The latter would be a bigger black eye on the community than the one he got that night he ran down the street pulling up his pants.
